Ascobolus ? on bear dung
Ethan Crenson, 27-09-2017 06:52
I have almost no experience with coprophilous fungi, so any help is appreciated.  On bear dung in southern Vermont (US). Apothecia are very small: 1-2 mm diameter, crenulate at the margin, perhaps a bit fuzzy on the outside of the cup.  Asci: 85-112 x 7.5-10µm.  They do not appear to be amyloid.  Spores 11-15 x 5.5-8µm with parallel and intersecting ridges.  Paraphyses appear septate, sometimes widening toward the tips, 1-3µm wide.  Does this look familiar to anyone?

Re : Ascobolus ? on bear dung
Ethan,

It looks like Ascobolus crenulatus P. Karst
