Scutellinia decipiens - nice species :-)

Did you find it?

I found it twice - in very moist, very acid habitats.

Best regards, Lothar

Re : Literature search
Dear Zoltán, thank you very much.

Dear Lothar,
alas I didn't. I was just struggling with some strange Scutellinia and decipiens is one of those I have very little literature about (and besides, Benat's illustrations are always among the best). The odd Scutellinia will probably appear here in few days, although I have a feeling that it's just an aberrant collection of something totally common, like S. nigrohirtula.
But yes, decipiens is one of the "dreamed-of" species for me. :-) I saw Benat's distribution map of both decipiens and pennsylvanica in Europe - our country is just between them with no data at all and that empty whiteness is nagging me a lot. At least I collected pennsylvanica in eastern Slovakia (on very rotten beech wood) so I have some idea about the biotop. About decipiens - in what altitude did you find it? Mountain peat bogs?

Best wishes to you both.
Viktorie

Re : Literature search

Dear Viktorie,

as I wrote, I found it twice. The first find was in the "Rothaar-Gebirge" in Germany, Northrhine-Westfalia, it was published together with Benkert in Z. Mykol.

My second find was last year, not far away, in the National Park of Eifel.

Yes, both finds were in (sub)montaneous peats.

Best regards, Lothar
