Troublesome operculate... (lots of pictures)
Martin Bemmann, 09-08-2009 21:43
Martin BemmannDear all,

today I found these little milk-coffee coloured lads and I can't figure out their name (Rumpelstiltskin...?).
Ok, habitat is sessile on dead trunk (ca. 15 cm diameter) of Alnus fallen over a small creek (on loose bark). It was inhabitated by Orbiliae and Scutellinias as well.
Shape is a nearly round cushion.
Size of apothecia is 3-6 mm.
Asci are operculate and to my opinion IKI-, their size is ca. 345x15-17 µm.
The slightly clavate paraphyses are up to 35 µm longer.
The spores measure (19,8)20,2-20,9(21,3)x11,5-12,1 µm.
The textura of the excipulum is globulose and very hyaline.

I checked again and again my (limited) collection of books, tried to follow keys (Dennis etc.) without result.
I would very much appreciate any hint to find the genus at the least.

Best regards,

Martin

Hallo Martin,

Spricht da mikroskopisch was dagegen?

beste Grüße,
Andreas

Hello Andreas,

according to B&K Pachyella b. (I had this on my list but...) is IKI+ (however, "faible" as said in my french copy of B&K). The ascocarpes displayed in this publication are seemingly not very fresh as well.
But the pictures at Mycokey are very convincing!

Thank you Andreas!

Cheers, Martin

Re:Troublesome operculate... (lots of pictures)
Hallo Martin,

Andreas

Re:Troublesome operculate... (lots of pictures)
Hallo Andreas,

one learns od this that it is not sufficient to write merely I+ or I-, that leads again and again to confusions.

I will now be away for about 5 days, French alps with Guy and Bin Liu.

Cheers
