Enrique RubioI'm searching for the description of Didymella ilicis P. Larsen, in Dansk bot. Ark. 14(no. 7): 21 (1952).
Could someone help me?
Many thanks in advance

Re : Didymella ilicis
Dear Enrique,

this is from Larsen (1952) Studies in Danish Pyrenomycetes

I don't have this. But there is a good chance that Munk simply repeated the description in his Danish Pyrenomycetes from 1957 (attached).

Best regards

Martin

Re : Didymella ilicis
Thank you Martin. Always helping us. I had already seen Munk's description, which, as you say, is probably the same as Larsen's description. Everything points to his Didymella ilicicola being a synonym of Keissleriella cladophila which he missed the periostiolar setae.

Maybe the original description of 1952 has an illustration.

Re : Didymella ilicis
I scanned Larsen's paper this morning. Just need a couple of hours to tidy theimages and make a pdf. I will post the pdf tomorrow.

Sorry about the quality, AscoFrance will not allow me to post the file in a decent resolution.

/Henrik

Re : Didymella ilicis
As I said before, I think it is quite possible that Didymella ilicis is Keissleriella cladophila. I found it very difficult to see the periostiolar setulae and therefore considered it to be a true Didymella. And I think Larsen had the same problem as I did until after several sections I was able to see them. Many thanks Martin and Henrik for your kindly help.

My collection was made on still attached branches of Ilex aquifolium.

Re : Didymella ilicis
Since Larsen made his collection in 1924 (see attached document) and the description was possibly made a considerable time later from dried material, it is quite possible that setae were overlooked.

It is possible, Martin, but we'll never know.
