Black stromatal pyrenomycete with short necks
Ethan Crenson, 11-08-2017 17:57
From Staten Island, New York on branches of hardwood trees.  It's an effuse, spreading stromatal pyrenomycete with the roughened, sulcate necks projecting up to 1 mm above the surface.  I was expecting Eutypa spinosa or something like it, but the micro features are different.  Spores are fusiform, guttulate, 1-3 septate, 12-21 x 5-6.5um.  Asci appear IKI-, uniseriate, 95-125 x 6.5-7.5um, with a short tail.  Many thanks in advance for your help!
