Arthrinium sp. on Phragmites
Thorben Hülsewig, 21-06-2017 17:31
Hi there,
i found few days ago this Arthrinium sp. .
Can it be that it is Arthrinium arundinis ?

best regards,
Thorben

Re : Arthrinium sp. on Phragmites
Hallo Thorben

Gunther v.Ryck.: based on the pictures and your description I would think this is Arthrinium phaeospermum (Corda) M.B. Ellis, Mycol. Pap. 103: 8-10. I found this species mainly on stems which were more than one year in a standing dead postion. Another taxon found on Phragmites is the Arthrinium state of Apiospora montagnei characterized by smaller conidia. I made a short note on the species in my thesis. I tried to culture the it but the culture remained sterile. Best regards Gunther

A. arundinis abspeichern.

Viele Grüße
Thorben

Re : Arthrinium sp. on Phragmites

Re : Arthrinium sp. on Phragmites
This seems to be a very complex genus as I see from the paper by Crous & Groenewald:
http://www.imafungus.org/Issue/41/23.pdf

When you search for Phragmites you see a lot of species on that host.

Hello Pinto and Zotto

This PDF is very good.
I see that Arthrinium sacchari and Arthrinium arundinis looks very good but difficult to distinguish.

best regards,
Thorben
