Encoelia sur Fraxinus
Gilbert MOYNE,

Merci à vous tous
Gilbert

Re : Encoelia sur Fraxinus
Hi Gilbert
I would also like to know that. Once I thought that these might be two species, but later I gave it up. Now when looking at your images, this reminds me very much of my recolte on Fraxinus near my house a few years ago.
Here the text in my key:
Ectalexcipulum of vertically oriented, slightly gelatinised textura prismatica-angularis, cortex of large, spherical, dark red-brown incrusted cells, apothecia externally not fibrous, excipulum and hymenium numerous covered by numerous rhomboid oxalate crystalls, asci nearly IKI-, apothecia emerging from sclerotia hidden in the cortex, with early black-brown hymenium, spores *12-16.3 x 3-4 µm, very low lipid content, on branches of Populus and Fraxinus ....... E. fascicularis
(a suspected deviation of Populus compared to Fraxinus, especially due to a brown layer between ectal excipulum and medulla in Populus finds as asserted in Baral & Krieglsteiner (1985: 116) needs further observation)

Re : Encoelia sur Fraxinus
Merci Zotto.

Yes, it is very complicated and subtle because the fungus is variable. On Fraxinus indeed exist also fasciculate apothecia.
