Hello, I have found these interesting 0.5mm wide ascomycete in, rather numerous and gregarious on dead decaying sticks of a herbacious plant (maybe fennel, maybe Acanthus petioles) which have a tiny stipe. Outline rim maybe folded inside and become irregular. I have not yer carried out a full documentation, but a quick slide yesterday revealed very narrow asci but spores were very scarce (none were free outside the asi). What family (or genus) are we ?

It somewhat reminds Lasiobelonium in my idea.

I too think Cyathicula with sessile apos. Look if the paraphyses in water are multiguttulate and the excipulum tough and with crystals.

I have worked on the micro of this species and I have the following results
Ascocarps L x W : 0.5 x 0.7 Range: 0.4-0.7 x 0.5-0.9 (1.6!)
Cross section : a brownish-grey layer darker from the rest below the hymenium
Crystals: PRESENT
Asci: 50-60 x 4-5 um / J+ / Croziers present
Paraphysis : linear, same or slightly longer from asci (-65um) with numerous guttulae, but some have less (not uniform)
Spores: Cylindrical with rounded ends, 7-10um, with two small, condensed guttulae at each end, straight or slightly curves (sausage shaped)
I have seen several posts on this page and I concluded that this is Cyathicula cacaliea
Do you agree? :-)

C. cacaliae is an option, yes, it is characterized, however, by a brown medullary (or ectal) excipulum, as I recall, and maybe it is dificult and heterogeneous. The genus is extremely diverse when taking sequences.

Thank you, I give it this name unless something better fits or is suggested in the future. anyone interested in sequencing this specimen just contact me, although I am afraid that after drying it, there is noting left -> so small!
