Boubovia (?) on dung
Koszka Attila, 15-11-2019 19:48
Bonjour!

I found today this Boubovia-like fungus on horse dung.

The hooked paraphyses reminded me of Pulvinula.

The fruitbodies 0,5-1,5 mm in diameter.

Asci operculate, inamyloid, 80-130 micrometers long, base rather with croziers.

Spores 11-13 x 6,5-8 micrometers, wall completely smooth in cotton blue, some with

a weak guttule.

I found Boubovia nicholsoni in the literature, wich fits well to my fungus, but the

substrate is strange.

Is this determination (Boubovia nicholsoni) correct?

Has considerado Coprotus, quizás Coprotus aurora?

Re : Boubovia (?) on dung
In fact it is a species of the genus Coprotus. However, the 1.5 mm apothecaries are very large for this genus and the paraphyses are unusually curved. Not seen yet. So you can really think of Boubovia. I have to work on my key to work out the differences. However, Boubovia is very, very rarely on dung.

Here you will find a great key to Coprotus: https://mycokeys.pensoft.net/article/22978/

Dear Peter!

I misjudged the size of fruitbodies, in fact they were 0,3-0,9 mm in diameter.

Unfortunately I did not examine the marginal cells of my collection,

but (based on the key You linked) now I see the importance of this character.

Thank You for the key and the help!
