Hello,I have identified this fungus as Hymenoscyph
Psilachnum on Picea cone

I was given a probable Psilachnum on spruce cone, but have no key to that genus (is there any?).
White apothecia cca 1-1,5 mm, very short stalk, crenulate margin.
Short hairs with low-refractive VBs, reddish in IKI. A few hook-like hairs on margin.
Paraphyses with long VBs.
Asci 8spored, H+, IKI+b, with a rounded body below spores in some asci.
Spores * (4,9) 5,5-6,9 (8,3) × (1,4) 1,5-1,9 (2,1) um, avg = 6,3 × 1,7 um, Q = 3,3-3,76-4,2, OCI < 1.
Thank you for any help with this one.
Viktorie

Re : Psilachnum on Picea cone
without comparing the rest of the characters - already the hairs alone remind me of an Hamatocanthoscypha (laricionis).

Re : Psilachnum on Picea cone
This is one possibility but since the hairs are rather thick towards the apex I guess more Psilocistella conincola which is in my Hamatocanthoscypha folder too.

Re : Psilachnum on Picea cone
Thank you both very much. I got distracted by those VBs and rounded bodies in asci so I never considered this genus nor family.

Re : Psilachnum on Picea cone
It is right, these VBs and Psilachnum-bodies indeed point to a similarity with Psilachnum. We know so little about the phylogenetic relationship of these fungi, and I am sure the generic system will severely change with time.
