Endoxyla spec.?
Stefan Blaser, 22-08-2019 17:34
Dear All,

This collection from Fagus has globose Perithecia of about 0.25-0.3 mm in diameter that grow densely in more or less parallel rows. There is no obvious stroma. The Spores are aseptate, cylindric to narrowly ellipsoid and often slightly bent with a size of 8-9.5 x 2.5-3 µm, posessing a small germ pore on one side. The Asci are IKI/Melzer negative. A very indistinctive apical ring is just visible in CR.

Any Ideas would be very welcome.

Many thanks and best wishes,

Stefan

Re : Endoxyla spec.?
Hi again,

the spores are indeed suggestive of Endoxyla but ascomata are not typical at all. Sorry, no idea.

I hope someone on the forum will be more helpful.

Re : Endoxyla spec.?
Hello Stefan and Jacques,

I found this species in 2002-2003, also on Fagus and was puzzled. Anyway, I filed it as "undescribed unusual Camarops sp. with reduced stromata".

Best regards, Walter

Re : Endoxyla spec.?
Thank you, Jacques and Walter!
I will name it Camarops spec. for the time being.
