Cup on pitrus (Juncus effusus)

Hello,

We found these very small cups (diameter cup about 0.5 mm) on stalks of dead pitrus and wonder whether it could be a Ciboria species and, if yes, which one. Spores size (free spores in water) was 9.5-11.2 x 4.1-4.6 micron. Asci tops positive with IKI (not Melzer). Parafyses slender, non-capitate and with many small guttuli.

is there any sclerotium inside the culm? That would point to a Myriosclerotinia.

Thanks for yor comment Zotto. It's all very small and difficult to find out for me whether there is a sclerotium or not. Does this close up of the stem foot bring you any further?

No, but I wonder whether the large round structure, larger than the apos, on your second photo, is a sclerotium.

Maybe the fungus is a little immature.  The spores seem to be uninucleate there but should be finally 4-nucleate if it is one of the current Myriosclerotinias.
