Capronia-like
Bernard Declercq, 12-04-2017 15:31
Bernard DeclercqHi,
Collected on Schizopora sp. and surrounding wood:
Ascomata semi-immersed (on fungus) to superficial (on wood), globose, 70-80 µm diam., dark brown, upper part covered by a crown of blackish hairs. Asci bitunicate, with subtruncate apex, biseriately 8-spored, 48-53x9.5-11 µm. Ascospores narrow ellipsoid, both ends slightly tapering, with narrowly rounded ends, 8.5-10x4-4.1 µm, 1-septate, with a few small lipid bodies, smooth, pale brown. Peridium of brown textura angularis. Hairs tapering, straight to curved, acute tip, with enlarged base, 20-43x(3)5-10 µm, thick-walled, aseptate, blackish brown. A few "hairs" are pale brown and septate forming a transition between hairs and anchoring hyphae.
Your help is welcome.

Bernard

Re : Capronia-like
Hi Bernard,

it reminds me of Capronia inconspicua but I'm in a bit of a hurry right now so I can't compare with the literature. It's certainly a nice find – do you think you could send me a part of this collection for morphological studies?

Best wishes,
Gernot
