Re : Sporormiella on reindeer
Hello Maren.

Delicate and difficult to be certain of determination. In my opinion, this is close to the S.intermedia group (S.teretispora, S. australis, S.similis). I have already faced this problem.

Michel.

Hi Michel,
thank you for your opinion. It seems as if none in the S. intermedia group fits properly. Unfortunately I have no decription of S. similis.

Re : Sporormiella on reindeer
Difficult problem, Maren!

With the second cell broader than the others, the species remembers to Sporormiella scandinavica. But for this the ascospores seem to be too small.
I'll attach the description of this species to compare.

Sporormiella grandispora could be another suggestion.
The spore size fits very well but the germ slits have to be +/- parallel.

Maybe, it's an undescribed species from the intermedia group, like Michel writes.

Sporormiella similis was described by Khan & Cain in 1979 (Can.J.Bot. 51).
I'll send it to you in private, because it is too large to attach it here.

Best regards, Norbert

Re : Sporormiella on reindeer
Hello Norbert, in agreement with you, I had also thought of S.grandispora. Species close to that presented by Maren there is always a character that does not correspond. I would also be interested in the description of S.similis that I do not have, thank you.

Michel.

Do not do anything Norbert, I found the description of S.Similis, misclassified!

Re : Sporormiella on reindeer
Thanks a lot, Nobi, for the literature.
But even S. similis, S. grandispora nor S. scandinavica fits. So I also think, that it is an undescribed species. I'll attach two further pictures of the germ slits, they are definitely not parallel.

Thanks, Maren for the further pictures.

Maybe Sporormiella "miniscandinavica" spec. nov.  ;-)
