I'm looking for some help with this species found in eastern Austria (Burgenland) on a decorticated branch of an unknown tree (could be Fraxinus). I'm not even entirely sure which genus this might belong to... The perithecia are not imbedded in a dark stromatic tissue but rather immersed in the wood under the dark surface of the fungus. The ascospores are dark brown, without a sheath or appendages, with a straight, spore-length germ slit on one side of the spore, and measure about 11–15 x 5–6 µm (they are quite variable though). Thanks for any ideas!

Hi Gernot,
this must be Lopadostoma pouzarii Granmo & Petrini, not a good Lopadostoma but a genus is to be found to accommodate it.
Not host-specific but occurs preferentially on Ulmus in my region.

great, thank you! That's interesting because when I studied the material I thought that the microscopic characters indeed resemble Lopadostoma but of course the macroscopy doesn't fit.
Now I would be very interested in the original description of this species which I do not have, unfortunately. Do you maybe have it as a PDF, or perhaps someone else?
