4-spored Asci
Chris Johnson, 12-12-2015 09:20
Good morning

While looking at a dung fungus yesterday, these 4-spored asci appeared in the preparation. I've not traced where they came from but as 4-spored asci are not that common, I wondered if anyone recognised which species produced them?

With thanks, Chris

Re : 4-spored Asci
Hello Chris.

Several species may have only 4 asci with spores. Pictured spores are ripe, but can be a Schizothecium.

Michel.

Hi Michel

I looked at S. nanum and S. tetrasporum yesterday but the shape of the asci is wrong (more linear than mine).
The size of the asci is 33 x 23 µm.

Thanks, Chris
