Scutellinia scutellata – crinita?

Good morning

Found on decorticated wood (probably Fagus), measuring 5-7mm across.
Spores (from a spore-drop): 17.4-20.2 x 11.4-12.7 microns. Low verrucosity and no guttules found.
Setae 430-1200 x 25-45 microns across the range with the longest hairs at the margin. Multi-furcate at the margin, bi- and trifurcate on the lateral setae.
Asci tips blue in Lugol's.

Is the low wart profile sufficient to name this Scutellinia crinita, or should I be looking at other characteristics?

Any help appreciated.

Adio Chris,

In first : Asci not blue on your photo ! And never blue in Scutellinia genus !
In second : 99 % it is S. crinita
In third : S. scutellata is a common name, misused before a long time but designs another species, more rare and more artico-alpine. Therefore, it's a complex, studies are on course.
In last : It's important, in this genus, to see sporal ornementation. Here we can see nothing !

Many thanks for the rapid response.

I will try another spore-drop but there was little ornamentation to show.

What are the defining charcteristics of Scutellinia scutellata?

I don't know but I can see nothing here.
It's important to see "on spore" like the following picture,
About scutellata, it's a complex of species and work isn't finished. But one thing, if you want, spores have obtuse ends and are more fusiform than crinita (Q > 1.7).

that 'blueing' of the ascus apex is an artefact caused by chromatic aberration. The same colour appears here and there throughout that image of the ascus - especially along the edges of the spores.
