Otidea?
hannie wijers, 18-08-2014 14:51

Hello everyone,

In the forest on the sandy soil under deciduous trees, I found this little ear-like toadstools. They were 1-2 cm larg with a split and a rougher outside. The measure of the spores were 10-13 x 5-6 mu. I have tried the key Ascofrance, but I did not come out. Does anyone have a suggestion for me?

Thanks

Hannie

Re : Otidea?

Hi there,

I would say young O. onotica. The spores are a bit too narrow, the shape in the photo looks fine. Another thing that one can try is the reaction in KOH of the tomentum at the base of the apothecia, which should turn yellow. This is rather unusual in Otidea.

Cheers,

Ibai.
