Unknown species on carex?
Ralph Vandiest, 23-03-2014 21:38
Ralph VandiestHello,

I found this species on carex species?  Not sure about the host..  Causing black spots, underneath these black spots you find multiple black frb embedded together. Size
0,1/15mm. No asci, conidia 3,5/5x12/16µm, 1septed conidia with sometimes very sharp ends.

Anybody an idea?

regards,

Ralph

Re : Unknown species on carex?

Hi Ralph.

It is coelomycete mycoparasite Sphaerellopsis filum (syn. Darluca filum) with teleomorph stage Eudarluca caricis. Some information about this fungi was published by Ove Eriksson: Eriksson, O. 1966. On Eudarluca caricis (Fr.) O. Eriks., comb, nov., a cosmopolitan uredinicolous pyrenomycete. Botaniska Notiser 119: 33–69.

With best regards,
                            Martin.
