can anybody help me with this pseudothecias (0,5mm), growing on decorticated herbaceous stem, probably an umbelifera.
the only thing i have in mind is leptospora rubella, but the spores in my collection are v e r y sharp pointed, needle like and a bit short (80-100 x 1-2). the other problem is that i have only spores, no asci ...

Re : Leptospora?
Hi Dirk,
a conidial state, macroscopically and microscopically clear. I bet the conidiomata have a consistence like gelatine.

björn

Re : Leptospora?
Hi Dirk,
did you try Ophiobolus? like acuminatus that occurs on umbelliferae.

Re : Leptospora?
thank you björn! you're right, they are very soft. i'm really stunned that the connidiaspores are so long.
martin: interesting idea. but there are no swollen septae. i have no septae at all ...

Re : Leptospora?
Hello Björn,
Can this be the same species considering the fact that the spore lenght I measured is 62/95x2/3µm and I founf it on PLatanus?

Re : Leptospora?
Yes Ralph, looks like the same, but it is not Leptospora. This species has yellow-brown spores far over 100µm.

Re : Leptospora?
Hi all,
That's an anamorh, a coelomycete. Exactly what I found on Ranunculus aconitifolius during the asco congress in St-Jean-La-Vêtre in 2010.
Alas, that's all I can say. I found no name for it. IIRC the conidia's weren't septate at all.
And it wasn't gelatinous.
Cheers - LUC.
