Lachnum on cone of Pinus sylvestris
Gernot Friebes,

yesterday somebody gave me this cone of Pinus sylvestris with some apothecia of a Lachnum species. I were not able to determine it (maybe L. papyraceum would fit somehow) so I'd need your help.
Apothecia: stipitate, white if fresh, later staining reddish-brownish, outside completely hairy, disc up to 1 mm ø.
Asci: 8-spored, cylindrical, 50 x 6 µm (unfortunately there were hardly any living asci), croziers +, IKI bb.
Spores: hyaline, smooth, without any content, 6-8 x 1,5-2 µm.
Paraphyses: lanceolate, projecting the asci up to 15 µm, some filled with VBs.
Hairs: cylindrical, apical sometimes slightly thickened, completely incrusted, 45-69 x 3-4 µm.
Best wishes,
Gernot

Re:Lachnum on cone of Pinus sylvestris
Hi Gernot
is a bit senescent, yes. But I would also identify L. papyraceum which is confined to conifers. The only problem is how to separate L. fasciculare, except for the substrate, angiosperm wood.
