Could be this species on burried wasp? Is it the anamorph of Ophiocordyceps sphecophila?
Many thanks

Hi Enrique,

my colleague Ditte found something like this on a butterfly pupa and was determined as Paecilomyces farinosus (Isaria farinosa) the anamorph of Cordyceps (memorabilis?). Here is the link to the thread in the German PilzePilze forum:

Dear Martin.
The images are very close to mine, but the support is a butterfly, not a wasp.
Many thanks

Dear Enrique,

P. farinosus was found on Vespula sylvestris as well. c.f. D.Leatherdale, The arthropod hosts of entomogenous fungi in Britain, Entomophaga 15(4) 1970, 425.
