Podospora like with small spores
Marc Detollenaere, 12-03-2021 21:49
Marc DetollenaereDear Forum,
On dung of sheep I found some perithecia of about 540x160µ with 8-spored asci. The spores were 2-celled. The brown cel measured about 14.4-14.8x9µ and the small hyaline pedicle was 10µ long.
In  the keys of Podospora of Doveri and Lundqvist I did not found any species with such small symmetrical brown cells.
Anyone could help me?

Marc

Re : Podospora like with small spores
Hello Marc!

Interesting find; it could be cervinum, close to S. vesticola but with smaller spore measurements. On the other hand, we cannot clearly distinguish the shape of the pedicel in the photos. This character should be checked.

Michel.

Re : Podospora like with small spores
Hello Michel,
Thank you for your answer. The pedicle measures 5-6x1.8µ.
Unfortunately there are no other Podospora to compare in the sample. I will continu with my culture to become more evidence.
