Aphyllophoricolous Hypomyces

Hi again

On the hymenium of some decayed Ganoderma grew the basidiomata of an sterilized aphyllophoral that I tentatively determined as Trechispora vaga. But on this fungus also grew the white perithecia, on a copious white subiculum, of an Hypomyces KOH-yellow-orange. The ascospores are 1-septate, verruculose, with small apiculi. I tried to determine it with Rogerson & Samuels but no success I had. No anamorphic stage I have seen.

Could yo some idea for me?

Thanks again

Hi Enrique,
did you consider Sporophagomyces chrysostomus?

Amitiés,
Christian

Re : Aphyllophoricolous Hypomyces

Hi Christian

I did not considere this possibility but, by the way, will someone have this paper?

Põldmaa, K.; Larsson, E.; Köljalg, U. 1999. Phylogenetic relationships in Hypomyces and allied genera, with emphasis on species growing on wood-decaying homobasidiomycetes. Canadian Journal of Botany. 77(12):1756-1768

Many thanks for your suggestion

Re : Aphyllophoricolous Hypomyces

Hi Christian

After reading this paper (sent me by Martin) I think you are right. I mistook the peculiar subiculum of this fungus with the basidiomata of a Trechispora. But, in spite of this, it is very curious the positive KOH reaction of the fresh perithecia of my collection, negative according Rogerson & Samuels (Hypomyces c.) and Pöldmaa & al.. Maybe an intraspecific variability?

Thank you both: Christian and Martin
