Orange inoperculate fungi
Manak Roman, 31-01-2024 19:56
Hi, I have a finding of an orange inoperculate fungus less than 1 mm in size and I don't know what to do. Fungi grew on the cut surface of an Alnus glutinosa stump in a floodplain forest. Size of the spores: 12,1 - 17,0 ×3,3 - 4,4 µm. Asci approx. 50 - 85 × 6,5 - 7,0 µm.

Do you know what might be going on

Thanks

Hello,

looks like Arachnopeziza trabinelloides to me.

Best wishes,
Gernot

Re : Orange inoperculate fungi
yes, very likely trabinelloides, the intense colour and modest subiculum. Put some MLZ at the side of the cover slip of fresh slide (in water) and observe the lovely reaction.

Re : Orange inoperculate fungi
Thanks, everybody. It really looks like A. cornuta/trabinelloides. I'll check the hairs in the exsicate.

Re : Orange inoperculate fungi
Unfortunately, I don't have a fresh sample, just an exsicate. It's a finding from December 23
