Dear forum,
can someone help with this nice little discomycete?
- apothecia white, to 0.4 mm in diameter without conspicuous margin,
- paraphyses strongly hooked and sometimes also curled
- asci K/I-, but ascus content turning orange
- spores ellipsoid, 10-11 x 5-7 µm, hyaline, smooth, filled with many small LB
- host Cephaloziella hampeana: hyphae inside rhizoids growing upwards to the base of the rhizoid cell and from there in adjacent stem cells

It seems to be Mniaecia albida = M. gloeocapsae indeed.

I never heard of M. albida. In Index of Fungi both species are accepted. I know also M. nivea with larger spores.

in the Orbiliomycetes Monograph (Baral et al. 2020) I found the following sentence (page 1661):'Actually, reexamination of the type material by J.P. Priou (IVV: 22.X.1866) revealed
it [Mniaecia albida (P. & H. Crouan) Priou & Baral, comb. nov. — MB 814586] to be an earlier synonym of Mniaecia gloeocapsae (Boud.) Van Vooren as described and figured by Boudier (1904–10: 262, pl. 454).

Yes, Mniaecia nivea (Boudier pl. 456) has the large spores (around 20-25 x 11-14) and M. albida = gloeocapsae (Boudier pl. 454) the small spores (around 8-12 x 4-6).
But there is an intermediate form, M. cf. gemmata, with spores 12-19 x 6.5-9.5, and spore size is somewhat variable, I never saw 7 µm wide spores in M. albida.
