There appeared to be some crystals in the lower part of of the stem, although I'm not certain it belongs to this fungus.
Spores:
(5.9) 6.4 - 8 (8.9) × (5) 5.1 - 5.9 (6.7) µm
Q = (1.2) 1.23 - 1.4 (1.5) ; N = 12
Me = 7.3 × 5.6 µm ; Qe = 1.3
Any hope getting to species level?

Re : Pilobolus on dung
I would say it is one of the species around P heterosporus.

Re : Pilobolus on dung
Thanks for the answers and links! Maybe I'll label this as P. cf. heterosporus.

Hello Juuso,
I think this should be Pilobolus crystallinus. Pilobolus heterosporus is in my opinion the same as Pilobolus kleinii and it should have larger, more orange-yellow spores.

Re : Pilobolus on dung
Ah ok, thanks! Just in the pics I've seen of that species, the spores seem to be clearly narrower in shape.

Re : Pilobolus on dung
There are two species hiding under the name heterosporus and as Norbert says the one with uniform shape but different sized spores has been synonymised by some with P kleinii. The spores are usually much bigger than you specimen. There is a second P heterosporus which has irregularly shaped and sized spores which I personally cannot accept as P kleinii. As you say P crystalinus has cylindrical spores so I cannot see how yours could be that species

Hello everyone.
Still quite Difficult to separate certain species of this genus, but I would rather agree with Malcolm; maybe Juuso could show a higher spore count.
Michel.

Re : Pilobolus on dung
Your pic confirms in my opinion the track of heterosporus.
Michel.
