Bisporella (Calycina) sulfurina
Stephen Mifsud, 02-12-2021 12:45
Stephen MifsudI was revising some past identifications and I wish to confirm that this Bisporella is sulfurina (not citrina) hopefully, I have enough evidence from the photos I've taken 2 yrs ago.

Basic info:

The ascii were stained with Melzer (not IKI) and I think they are inamyloid.
The ascii bases are simple without croziers (but I might not be correct here)
The ascospores are about 10 um long (+/-)

Tnx in advance

P.s. according IF the name is Calycina claroflava (Grev.) Kuntze while MB retains Bisporella sulfurina (Quél.) S.E. Carp and Helotium claroflavum (Grev.) Berk as current names . What taxon I should use ?

Re : Bisporella (Calycina) sulfurina
Yes it is. In the living state it would be easier, because the septate spores occur inside living asci unlike C. citrina.

The genus Calycina is current for these. The species epithet is claroflava, but the identity of sulfurina is a bit unsolved. In any case, claroflava is much older.

Thank you for replying both of my questions.
Calycina claroflava will be used in my records.

Have a good new week ahead
