Pilobolus heterosporus?
Joop van der Lee, 23-09-2020 14:28
Joop van der LeeFound on cow dung.

Subsporangial swelling 390 um high.
Sprangium 190 um broad.
Spores: A great variety of sizes maybe the species is too young for the spore sizes are smaller than noticed in Researches on fungi Vol. VI (page 207). Spores are hardly separable.
Spore size: 6.4-10.4x4.1-4.8 um

They stated that the irregularity of the spores is not different from P. sphaerospora but for the spore size of this latter they talk about diameter meaning circular spores and not oval.

Hopefully I find more mature species.

There appear to be two species "hidden" under the P heterosporus name. In the UK we have the first with different sized spores synonomised with P kleinii. This fit well with your find. There is however a second species with variously shaped rather than different sized spores which I feel deserves species recognition.

Re : Pilobolus heterosporus?
I'll keep it in mind.

Seems to me a Pilobolus period this time of year.
Never seen so many different kind of speceis.
