A few days ago in the northeastern US (Vermont) I found a brown Peziza. It looked rather ordinary but the microscopic features are unusual, I believe.
The spores are hyaline, or occasionally yellow, mostly biguttulate, 11-14 x 8-10µm. They are reticulate--but not in the fine, delicate way that P. badia would be. The reticulations are large and lumpy, sort of like a raisin. Asci are 259-289 x 12µm, IKI+.
Does anyone recognize this Peziza?
Thank you in advance.
Ethan
perhaps Peziza atrovinosa?
