Really no idea. The possible name I had in my mind was A. fitzpatrickii, but it doesn't fully fit the description. Maybe Luis has seen it in the USA? :-). Any comments? ...but just a shot. The combination of spores and hairs in this specimen does not fit anything I know. What was the conifer in question, Pinus, Abies?
Timo
Difficult, the wood is destroyed (brown rot), I guess Picea.
Elisabeth
This is not A. fitzpatrickii. The macro is very different, but also the hairs. We are writing an small manuscript about this collection and we have sequences. I will reach you Timo when the manuscript is done. A researcher that visit us that had no projects in mind decide to work on that, but it was just before the COVID and now the manuscript is stopped. The hairs of A. fitzpatrickii are like teeth, all of them cemented and you can count them (see attached)
Best wishes
Luis
