Found on dead stems in February earlier this year
Once again something Orbilia-like. This time growing on the pore surface of a dead Ganoderma applanatum on a stump, very close to the ground. On one edge of the polypore there was Albertiniella polyporicola, on the other edge this one.
Apothecia to 0.8 mm broad, cupulate to infundibuliform. Asci 17-24 x 3-4, with croziers, glued together at the top, IKI-. Paraphyses very difficult to observe (if there). Spores cylindrical or in a few cases they look slightly fusiform, something like 5-6 x 0.7 etc.
It does not quite fit Hyalorbilia ulicicola, also growing on Ganoderma, but what it is I can't say.
----
A little bit later: Well, I think i found it: can it be confirmed that this is Hyalorbilia inflatula?
Cheers,
Stefan
Saludos.
H. inflatula is heterogeneous, important is to look at the uppermost margin for the size of the cells. We have two different but close genetic variants which are correlated with cell size, and maybe they will become two different species in the future.
Could you tell me the collection data? Is it a conifer stump?
