Does anyone have a suggestion which species this is? (Is there a mongraph or fairly recent revision of Ophiocordyceps/Ophiocordycipitaceae available online?)

Re : Ophiocordyceps
bifusispora is a possibility. The spores should have clubshaped ends. You forgot to give some details like country of origin etc. :-)

Re : Ophiocordyceps
Thanks - I will check the spores. It was found in Norway, 60 km west of Oslo. Habitat was moist depression in Alnus incana forest with Mattheuccia strutheopteris. The insect was lying inside a last-year stem of that fern.

highly typical habitat for previous Norwegian finds of bifusispora :-)

Re : Ophiocordyceps
Spores measure 160-170 microns in lenght and are hardly thicker than 1 micron. No swollen ends. Apparently easily fragmented, but many intact after squash.

Re : Ophiocordyceps
According to recent literature, this is a Cordyceps, not Ophiocordyceps.
