Tiny ascomata on Pinus sylvestris
Gernot Friebes, 17-04-2016 14:09
On a dry, decorticated branch of Pinus sylvestris still attached to the tree I collected these tiny black ascomata with a somewhat lighter ostiole region. One of the most striking features is probably the reddish reaction of the ascus wall in Lugol. The asci appear to be bitunicate, ascospores are hyaline, smooth, one-celled, and measure about 12–13.5 x 4–4.5 µm. Hamathecial threads are present and appear to be cellular. I would welcome any ideas!

Best wishes,
Gernot
