Steve ClementsBonjour, This disco is abundant on dead stems of
minute Saccobolus from cow-dung (moist chamber from Portugal)

in unripe condition citrine yellow, then soon fading to pale. Paraphyses with citrin yellow pigment. Spore balls about 33-37/13-15 µm, free spores not seen, single spores in balls about 13-15/6-8, in ripe condition weakly and irregularly wartedI do not come to a clear result. For S. citrinus the spores do not fit. With the key of van Brummelen I end at S. truncatus, what is not really satisfactory (?). Who has an opinion?
Best regards, Lothar

Have you checked S. depauperatus. Spore cluster size close to this species. Tony

Re : minute Saccobolus from cow-dung (moist chamber from Portugal)
Hello Tony,
thank you very much for your proposal.
But I fear S. depauperatus is not possible. In van Brummelen it is keyed out in Section Eriobolus that does not have yellow pigment in the paraphyses. My specimen distinctly. has.
So I am still waiting for a fitting name.

Supporting Peter's suggestion this paper published in 2014 is a revision of van Brummelen by Doveri. His comparisons shows a lot of variance and s. minimus and s. truncatus are all now close and with yellow paraphyses. Attached. regards Tony
