Dear friends,in january my friend Bernd Fellmann from Bavaria / Germany found a Saccobolus on hare dung, which we cannot determinate with certainty.
Apothecia: 100 - 200 µm, disc convex, white
Asci: 70-90 x 20 µm, clavate, wall blue in Melzer's reagent
Spore-clusters: 40 x 15-17 µm, ascospores mostly transversely in two rows or simular
Ascospores: 13-15 x 7-8 µm, unequal sided fusiform and ornamented with isolated warts.
The clusters fit very well with Saccobolus infestans, but with clearly smaller asci and spores we can exclude it.
Saccobolus geminatus also does not agree completely.
But it seems to be a very rare species and we know nothing about its variability!
I hope, that somebody of you knows this species and can help us.
Regards
Norbert
