Ciboria batschiana in spring?
Edit Szilvásy, 16-03-2016 19:00
Edit SzilvásyHi all,
I found today this ascomycete growing on cupule of acorn.
Cup 0,5 mm across, flattened, attached by sort stalk.
Spores 10-11-5,5-6 mm, ellipsoid.
In my opinion, the fungus was not young.
I'd like help in identification.
Thank you in advance.

C. batschiana grows on the cotyledons of oak, not the cupule. As you have the fungus fresh you should make a preparation in water without too much pressure to show the vital characters.

Re : Ciboria batschiana in spring?
Dear Zotto,
Thank you very much for your attention and the recommended method. Unfortunatelly there are no more fresh fungus.
The reason I applied too much pressure, more useful information I can not show it.
Maybe next time.

Re : Ciboria batschiana in spring?
I remember C. batschiana has 2-nucleate spores and that would be visible in living spores in water - a possibility you still have by rehydrating.

Just read the apo diameter: 0,5 mm, is this right?

Re : Ciboria batschiana in spring?
Another idea: You have deBary-bubbles in the spores (DBBs, a gaseous phase). This is caused by your mounting medium (lactophenol?). I am unaware of DBBs in Helotiales, maybe your fungus is a Pezizales? Perhaps overmature?

Re : Ciboria batschiana in spring?
I wondered at the sight of bubbles, thank you for drawing my attention to it.
Lugol was mounting medium.
I'm glade the other idea, overmature Pezizales.
Thank you very much

Re : Ciboria batschiana in spring?
When you have mounted a fresh sample and it formed DBBs, it cannot be in Lugol. It must contain  a viscous ingredient that extracts water, and I suppose you used Melzer.
