Diatrype / Diatrypella on Fraxinus?
Olsson Jan, 19-02-2016 00:05
Found these on fallen twigs of Fraxinus. Is it possible to identify them from information given in the pictures?

Hi,

To me it lookalike Diatrype bicolor (Berk. & Curtis) Cooke , but you have to check the type of a stroma, the measurements of the asci and spores, and substratum.

Dimitar

Hi, Olo,
You can check the publication of Vasilyeva, L.N. &  Stephenson, S.L. (2005) in journal Fungal Diversity, vol. 19: 189-200.
According to the polysporous ascus it seems better to see inside the genus Diatrypella (for example D. verruciformis).

Regards, Dimitar
