Coprotus?
Malcolm Greaves, 22-09-2015 21:15
Malcolm GreavesA cluster of these quite small fungi on dung(max 0.6mm) Although there were no hairs round the edge the seemed to be one or two hairs from the middle of some of the Apothecia. Oval, smooth spores c22.5-25.5 x 14.2-14.6. I thought Coprotus was the closest but I am not convinced.
Thanks
Mal

Re : Coprotus?
Hello Malcolm,
in my opinion is that no Coprotus. However, I can give at the moment also no other recommendation.
Greetings Peter.
With the type Coprotus the paraphyses are very important for determination.

Re : Coprotus?
My impression is that of a Pseudombrophila, but I may be wrong.

Re : Coprotus?
Hello Mal.

Yes, your fungus is not necessarily Coprotus, but lacks details to continue; did you do the reaction to Melzer to check?

Michel.

Re : Coprotus?
Thanks.
No reaction to Meltzers. Is there anything else I could look for?

Re : Coprotus?
In my impression, it could be also Iodophanus carneus.

no Iodophanus

Hi Uwe,

Mal wrote that there was no reaction with Melzers reagent. Furthermore, the spores appear to be fully smooth.

Best regards from Lothar

Re : Coprotus?
OK.
Es war nur eine Idee. Wegen des Paraphysen- und des Sporeninhalts.
Ja, richtig, der Ascus bei Iodophanus ist jod-positiv und die Sporen fein-warzig.
Sorry for my wrong path...
Viele Grüße
Uwe

Re : Coprotus?
Malcolm's last photo was in Melzer's, so the characteristic paraphysis content of Iodophanus would be destroyed. I don't know a clear character of Pseudombrophila, but the macroscopy reminds me of that genus.
