Re : Lachnum sp 2-5-15
I suppose Capitotricha patula (= Lachnum patulum).
The asci should be with croziers.
Ah sorry, I thought it is on leaves, no: you say on a branch of a broad-leaved tree.
Then it could be Capitotricha bicolor or fagiseda. Any Fagus there?

Re : Lachnum sp 2-5-15
From your pics I cannot be sure about the presence of croziers. It would make more sense when the asci were without croziers.
I know a few collections of a C. fagiseda-like fungus which grew on Alnus viridis twigs. It had spores *9-12 x 2.4-2.7(-3.2) µm. Croziers absent.
Is there Alnus present at the site?

Hola Zotto

Yes, I see these, but it is not clar to me. Those on the left are indistinct concerning septation, are there septa or not? And those on the right are seen from front instead of the sides, so could be simple septate as well.

Re : Lachnum sp 2-5-15
Indeed, croziers are clearly absent. Thanks for this!
Now the question remains about the substrate. I am sure that Alnus would quite easily be recognized from wood anatomy (ladder-shaped perforations in radial section).
The rather long spores of your sample might exclude Capitotricha bicolor.

Re : Lachnum sp 2-5-15
o.k., that makes me perplexed :-( Such thick-walled elements should exclude Alnus. In any case, the first would be a cross-break to see if there are large pores arranged in rings, one per year.
If you have a razor blade, a radial section that hits some of these pores would be useful in case the wood is not ring-pored.
