Anthostoma saprophilum?
hannie wijers, 14-02-2015 14:21
Hella,

I have another question.
On a branch of hardwood (which is unknown, there was a big mountain pruning) I found this asco's. It looks like a hypoxylon but the spores are much lighter in color Meadure of the spores 10-13x4-5 microns. Traces with droplets.

Thanks
Best wishes
Hannie

Re : Anthostoma saprophilum?
Hi Hannie,
this is likely a Nemania. Nemania serpens is the most frequent, check the reaction of the apical apparatus of asci in iodine. Negative in Melzer, reddish in Lugol.
Cheers,
Jacques

Re : Anthostoma saprophilum?
Hello Jacques,

thanks for your help. I don't have any Lugol, so I'll try in Melzer.
Best wishes
Hannie

Re : Anthostoma saprophilum?
Hello Jacques,

Ik did some material unde the bino this morning and It keeps J- with Melzer. So it can be Nemania serpens I think.

Cheers,
Hannie
