Unknown species on phragmites leaves
Ralph Vandiest, 23-04-2014 22:29
Ralph VandiestHello,

I found these black small frb on leaves of phragmites, just covered under the upper layer. Size 0,15mm. Spores 3/4 septate and 26/29x6/6,5µm.

Any suggestions?

regards,

Ralph

Hi Ralph,

Yes it's a Stagonospora species. But giving a species name is more difficult.

Hi Ralph,

below the pages of Sutton 1980 on Stagonospora. Maybe it helps.

Re : Unknown species on phragmites leaves
Hello Ralph,
It's close to Stagonospora subseriata (most common on Molinia) even if the spores you described are a bit small. I still think it's that one.
Check Ellis & Ellis, or Grove: http://www.cybertruffle.org.uk/cyberliber/01209/0354.htm
