Ralph Vandiest, 01-12-2013 21:23
Ralph VandiestHello,

I found this species on ashes of burnt reed. Size <5mm and in clusters, 8-spored, J-, no lashes, asci 180/197x11/12µm, Spores 16/20x7/9 with 2 larges guttules .

 regards,

Ralph

Hi Ralph,

I suppose you are already sure about the Genus Anthracobia.
As for the species, it seems that the spores are more or less cylindrical and I will suggest A. tristis (Spore size fits with your collection)

I forgot to mention that you will find short hairs on the apothecia flanks , you can see them on your macros. But no such hairs as in Scutellinia for exemple (I suppose that's the meaning of your word ''lashes'' ?)

Re : Unknown asci found on burnt reed
Hello Michel,

I wasn't sure about the genus (only strat looking at asci this year) but desciption and spore size fit indeed perfect with the key I have. The only problelm is that I didn' noticed any hairs (lashes/bristels) (although it looks like that on the macro picture. I even thought in the field it was a scuttelinia.)  I will have a look again tomorrow. can it be something else?

regards,

Ralph
