Cheilymenia

Björn WergenHi,

a few days ago a friend sent me a collection of orange-reddish apothecia on a special soil in a flower pot. She told me that there could be cat dung, which had probably been intermixed with the soil. Macroscopically like an Anthacobia, but with setae-like, pale hairs (~200-300µm). I think I am right with Cheilymenia, but I am not sure with Cheilymenia coprinaria or something else. Perhaps someone can help me with the determination ;)

here are the "facts.

Thanks and regards,
kazuya

Re : Cheilymenia
Hi Kazuya

I can only tell you my idea, that this could be Scutellinia crucipila. Formerly held in Cheilymenia. The hairs should be quite thick-walled and basally furcate. This species is typically on soil.

Let us see what Benat thinks ..

Re : Cheilymenia
Hi Zotto,

thank you for the answer. I also thought about S. crucipila, I know this species elsewise, especially not in that "anthracobia-like" growing. I think the features fit well with S. crucipila.

hm I am now having 6 different Scutellinia, collected in only 2 weeks. I will show all of them later.

regards,
kazuya
