Yellow pyreno
Enrique Rubio, 26-05-2011 20:31
Enrique RubioDear friends:
Last week I have collected this strange fungus that makes yellowish and small (3 x 1 mm) stromata erumpent from bark on branches of a dead tree in a sunny place (maybe Quercus petraea or Fraxinus).
Perithecia are ostiolate and up to 0.5 mm in diameter. Inner stroma yellowish orange.
These ascomata remember me the strange tropical pyrenemicetous fungi that Christian Lechat show us.

Re:Yellow pyreno
Asci maybe bitunicate, 8-spored. Spores hyaline latter olive-brown, muriform.

Re:Yellow pyreno
Yes, it's for Christian.
Christian ça me rappelle ce que j'avais trouvé sur Robinia à Bèze (mais jamais trouvé mature).
Enrique, are you sure it's a bitunicate ?
Have you made KOH test ?

Re:Yellow pyreno
Hi Enrique , Alain,
I think it is not the same species than yours, Alain, your specimen is Pleonectria virens (Harkn.) Hirooka, Rossman & P. Chaverri, comb. nov. (ined).
Enrique, maybe you would have to search towards the genus Thyridium, but I have no certainty, it is only an idea.

Best wishes
Christian

Re:Yellow pyreno
Many thanks Alain and Christian. I'm not sure the asci are bitunicate and the KOH reaction is negative.
