Hello, After three or four years of seeing this
Crocicreas aff panici

Muchas gracias,

Good night again
I have this other species on small unidentified herbaceous stems, also in semialpine pastures in the Aragonese Pyrenees. Apothecia less than 0.7 mm, stipitate, very narrow, whitish.
Asci apparently without croziers and apex not blue in IKI, (45.9) 49.1 - 60.2 (63.1) x (4.5) 4.6 - 5.8 (6.5) microns, Q = (7.8) 8.9 - 11.8 (13), N = 39; Me = 54.2 x 5.2 microns, Qe = 10.5, in water, from fresh material and 1000x.
Spores cylindrical-fusiform, attenuated at the ends, with 1 septum at maturity and with 4 small guttules, 2 on each end of each cell, (10.6) 11.1 - 14 (15.1) x (1.8) 2.1 - 2.8 (2.9) um; Q = (4) 4.4 - 6.1 (6.9), N = 48, Me = 12.8 x 2.5 um; Qe = 5.2, in water, from fresh material and 1000x.
Paraphyses cylindrical, with numerous guttules. Ectal excipulum covered with crystals arranged in rows.
Thank you very much,

Re:Crocicreas aff panici
This seems to be what I have as C. dolosella (HB 5188). Only the asci are amyloid in my find. Do you have an idea, is the substrate a mono- or dicot? My specimen is from lowlands, in addition.
Could you provide us with a photo of the ascus apex in IKI? In large magnification?

Re:Crocicreas aff panici
Thanks, but your photos are not in IKI? The first looks like a ring, but I am not sure.
So how sure is it that the asci are IKI-? I did not yet look in any key, ad I do not know C. panici.

Re:Crocicreas aff panici
These photos are made in IKI, sure. I will look again dried material this afternoon at the mycology group.
I saw C. panici in Carpenter's Monograph of Crocicreas, 1981. It has only keys and draws, not species description: Ascospores septées -> Ascospores avec 1 septum -> Paraphysis hyalines -> Parois externe des cellules, celles les plus à l'extérieur de la marge et du réceptacle, remifiées et apparaissant cristulées.
Thank you,
Miguel Á. Ribes

Re:Crocicreas aff panici
Oh yes, now I understand. Croc. panici seems to be a Mollisina, according to the characteristic narrow outgrowths of the excipular cells.
The IKI should be stronger to be sure about a reaction, and dead asci are better to clearly see the ring.

Re:Crocicreas aff panici
Hi again
The hymenium has simply disappeared in dried material: nor spores, nor asci and nor paraphysis ¿:(? I only see ectal excipulum, so I can not check asci apex reaction to IKI. One more species to search again.
Thank you,
Miguel Á. Ribes
