Sur Lonicera
Michel RIMBAUD, 31-03-2015 17:39
Merci.
Michel

Re : Sur Lonicera
Bonsoir Michel
this is indeed a 'hyphomycete'; for any hope of an identification one would need to see conidia (there may be mature liberated ones on the surface of the twig); also important is the way in which the conidia are formed - so images at higher magnification of the apices of those conidiophores.
Unfortunately I suspect your collection may be over-mature, but it is still worthwhile perservering. Keeping the twig damp in a fridge for a week might revive it . . .

Amitiés
Chris

Re : Sur Lonicera
Bonjour Chris,
I put it under the microscope a 2nd time, after 1 week into a humid paper.
I saw some conidies about 3,2 x 11µ.
I guess some of them to be 1-septed.
So I believe it cannot be a Periconia.
... Cladosporium ? ... Do you have another idea ?
Friendly.
Michel

Re : Sur Lonicera
This reminds me of Periconiella.

Have you tried making slides with cellophane tape?  This works well for fungi which produce delicate chains of conidia.

Re : Sur Lonicera
Hello Joey,
No, I don't know that method with cellopan tape.
I made a new slide this morning by the classic way.
And I got this one on the net ... very similar... but not certain.

Thanks for your help.

Re : Sur Lonicera
Hello Michel,

Here are some instructions on the cellophane tape method: http://blog.mycology.cornell.edu/2011/10/27/explore-your-world-with-tape/

It is useful for looking at fungi on surfaces (e.g.: walls or leaves) and for observing delicate chains of conidia without breaking them apart.

Re : Sur Lonicera
I think Joey's suggestion of Periconiella is a very good one. There is a useful overview of this genus in Mycological Papers 111  "Dematiaceous Hyphomycetes VIII" by Martin Ellis. Let me know if you would like a PDF . . .

A slightly different 'sticky tape method' is outlined here: http://jcm.asm.org/content/38/12/4683.short I might give it a try as I am intending this summer to concentrate on fungal parasites on living leaves including Peronosporales and - more appropriate for this forum - ascomycete anamorphs like Oidium and Ramularia and its relatives.

Re : Sur Lonicera
Hello Joey and Chris,
Thanks one more time for your advices and the links attached.
I've learned it, it sems to be a very simple and usefull method.
Unfortunately I'll not be able to try it on my "Periconiella" because I have thrown it out.
Yes Chris, it'd be great if you can send me the PDf you cited to michrimbaud@aol.com
Cordialement.

Hello Chris, hello all,

I'd be interested also in that issue of "Dematiaceous Hyphomycetes".
Thanks in advance, cheers - LUC.
