I was hoping to get some feedback on this Asco I found in Mendocino, California last November. It was growing on a piece of woodchip, likely Douglas-Fir. My Mycology professor thought it might be somewhere in Leotiales, but all the similar species I could find were in Hypocreales.
Recently I came across some photos of Xanthonectria pseudopeziza, which reminded me of this observation. I'm definitely not confident at all though–the overall look and spores just looked similar.
