Re : Sarcoscypha look-alike
Hoi Nico,

is it perhaps a Aleuria species?

Hello
Are you sure about the spore ornamentation?
This looks very much like an Aleuria species, as said Stip.

Re : Sarcoscypha look-alike
Hello
I do not have my own photos of young aleuria but on linked pages, you can watch what immature spores of this species look like,
https://www.first-nature.com/fungi/aleuria-aurantia.php
https://www.aphotofungi.com/asomycetes_aleuria_aurantia.html

Young spores do not have ornamentation. Did you study free spores?

Mirek

Re : Sarcoscypha look-alike
Thanks for all your replies. I must admit having looked at the spores only in 3% KOH (works fine for Cortinarius, my main occupancy...)

See attachment for a photo of spores in cotton blue (lactic acid); smooth.

BTW: I have one fruitbody as exsiccate here, about 30 mm diameter.

Greetings,

Nico

PS

The species my also be too red for an Aleuria.
