Cistella on Salix bark
Juuso Äikäs, 27-01-2023 14:41
A couple days ago I found a plentiful growth of these Cistellas. They were growing on the inner surface of bark of a fallen Salix caprea tree. The bark was hanging rather exposed underneath the raised tree trunk.

The weather has been alternating between melting and freezing temperatures, but these still seem to be in a good, fresh condition.

Asci with croziers, IKI negative. Paraphyses narrowly cylindrical. Hairs short and granulose, some with swollen tips.

Spores:

(7.9) 8.9 - 10.5 (10.7) × (1.8) 2 - 2.39 (2.4) µm
Q = (3.4) 3.7 - 5.2 (5.6) ; N = 8
Me = 9.8 × 2.2 µm ; Qe = 4.6

Could this be Cistella chlorosticta?

I can only fully agree, as far as I see.

Thanks, nice to hear that! A new species for the first trip of the year.
